I sent this to Indonesian artist Yusufastriyanto to serve as an illustration of what I required to illustrate my battle with PTSD and the fact I was saved not by myself but by the women in my life. The hand reaching up is actually my own.
The final product. The three colored wisps of mist represent the women who saved me. 1st - My Family (Mother and daughters Lauren and Brooke). 2nd - ER Leadership (Samantha, Miriam, Damaris and Alexa). 3rd - My counselor (Elisa Medellin). Due to cost constraints I could not have color pictures in the book.

An illustration I commissioned for my book "CLEAR!". This image pertains to the chapter titled "Cross Country. This did not appear in the book.

An illustration amazingly created by artist Van C. who I commissioned on Fiverr. This was the first version. Readers will note the version that made it into the book did not have this wooden mallet. Also, I did not like that the spike was aimed at the heart. The point of the story is not the heart, it is the protective guard around the heart and the Dark Passenger's attempt to breach this guard. O
I was captivated not only by the book cover but the story itself. I felt like I was one of the sailors witnessing the events unfolding right before my eyes. Felt so real. Highly recommend this incredible book! By far one of my favorite authors.

I got your book delivered late today. I just picked it up to thumb through it and now am already on page 35. It is so interesting. Such a history lesson never heard of.
- Lisa (Texas)
Loved the book!!!!! Read it last night and couldn't put it down until it was done. I haven't seen a book put together quite like this with so much info and so interesting.

This is the 5th book of Mr Blocker’s I have read…… he did not disappoint!

This is a work I commissioned from Slovakian artist Rudo Pier off Fiverr.
A Grumman TBM Avenger over Marpi Point, Saipan in early July 1944. The cliffs can be seen just off center to left.
Toris, veteran of 3 tours, shows his affection in a rare captured moment. Dennis Blocker Sr. was caught off guard as such displays were quite rare.
Working on the manuscript on this date 30 March, 2019 we reached a milestone, 100 Pages completed! Holding up the banners are my daughters Lauren and Brooke. Great day for my dad and myself.
We called this room the think tank. Built by my dad and I the room had served as a kennel, a storage unit, and in this photo, an office. It was a great set-up. Dad would complete a story or have a photo I needed him to find and he would "air drop" them to me as I worked on the manuscript. Great memories as father and son. We were surrounded with photos of the dogs and memorabilia.
On D-Day, June 6th 2019, we completed 300 pages on the manuscript. As the end approached we knew we had accomplished something significant, that would live on forever, honoring these amazing dogs into perpetuity. The two collars are those of Laky and Toris who wore these in Iraq on missions.
On the 5th of October we were able to call the manuscript complete. Though we would go on to edit it several times, the bulk of the writing was finished. It was a joyous moment for us both. Lots of work indeed.
On the 25th of October 2019 mom helps with edits which of course seem to go on forever and ever as we second guess ourselves and think of better ways to explain situations in the manuscript. At some point you must just say, "Ok, we are done."
Every second of this read was fantastic and I wished I hadn't reached the end once I turned the last page. We also read this with my 9yr old son and I think it challenged him to do more with our dog, and inspired him to look for ways he can be a better teammate. MUST READ
This book was absolutely riveting! There was so much detail put into every single sentence. At times, it literally felt like you were standing right next to him.
Once you get rolling with this book you won't want to put it down. Chapter by chapter you will experience an emotional roller coaster. Dennis R Blocker takes you to the war zone and gives you an incredible insite into the life of his war dogs.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves dogs, and everyone who has served our beautiful Country in a time of war. I chose to rate this a Level 5 because the author isn't afraid to show his emotions. He laughs, he gets angry, he cries real tears. I could almost feel myself in his place, with my arms around the dog's neck.
This book is outstanding in every way. So well written and places you right their with the author. Written by a true hero in his own right. Both for his country and the dogs he is partners with. You will love this book.
I originally purchased the books for my husband. When they arrived I started to read book one and never put it down until I finished the entire book. Gives us an understanding of how much these dogs do for our country. Highly recommend both books.
Pulls in the reader so strongly that I would find it hard to believe most didn't read this in one, maybe two, sittings. - Joanne (ER Nurse)
The body of the book was like sitting around a warm campfire with friends from the same trenches. - Robert (Paramedic)
The journey rang entirely true, and the account was vulnerably honest. - A First Responder
A good book for spouses or family members who want an understanding of what emergency personnel deal with. - Firefighter/Medic
Thank you Dennis for putting into words so eloquently what so many experience but can’t express. Thank you for being their voice!
- Christi (ER Nurse)
The author transports you into his mind and situations as if you were there. I finished it in 2 days. - Mauro (EMS)
A Belgian Malinois that dad loved working with.
Hermes, a main character in the book.
Using Hermes awesome pose I created this advertisement for the book.
I did not think it was possible for Dennis to write a better book than number one but he has done so without a doubt. - Courtney S.
I could hear the paws hitting the ground behind him, feel the silence as their bodies left the ground, sailing through the air as though it was my back as their target of destruction.
As someone who has worked with dogs for most of my life, this was such a wonderful explanation of the bond. - Anderson
I'm a voracious reader of many decades, all types of books. THIS book is my favorite. - JD
You will feel as if you are actually there. - Dorean (United Kingdom)
I was captivated again by book 2 from start to finish just like I was in book 1. Both books are a roller coaster of emotions. - Heidi
